The Scoop on TOPAZ Reporter

As mentioned in the previous blog post, TOPAZ Reporter is a module of the Elements suite that provides a very powerful ad-hoc report-building tool. Reporter provides the customer with the ability to generate a wide range of reports covering compliance, facility operations, and animal health data that can include a host of advanced features such as a charting wizard, calculations, crosstab reports, drill down reports, and multi-report graphical dashboards.

You can also make your reports look sharp by including images (such as your institution logo), conditional formatting, and the full set of fonts and formatting options. Once you have designed the report you need, you can set it to run on a schedule and have it automatically emailed to you and your selected colleagues.

The data that Reporter accesses are stored in a separate repository from the main Elements data. This has allowed us to simplify the data structures and give you access to your data, even though Elements itself is so flexible. Even though you control your own protocol forms, order forms, and Vet Management tasks, this data is all still available to you within Reporter.

Some example reports that customers have developed using Reporter include:

  • Active staff listings
  • AAALAC Appendix 5 report
  • Hazardous agents by species
  • Active cages listings
  • Facility utilization dashboard
  • Animal bodyweight trends
  • Protocol review duration analysis

Most of our customers already own TOPAZ Reporter, though in some cases, you may not realize it! In order to help you get the most out of this product, we offer two types of service:

  • Reporter Training – This can be performed remotely and is most effective when targeted at a small number of “report experts” within your organization.
  • Report Writing Services – If there is a report you would like to have but don’t have the time or expertise to build it, TOPAZ can do it for you.

If you would like to learn more about Reporter or its associated services, please contact us. Meanwhile look for more Reporter information and some exciting new Reporter features coming soon!
